Morrison McQueen

Morrison is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt under Hab Heske, and Yoga teacher at M1FC.

Morrison has an extensive background in yoga and meditation. Initially being introduced to the Zen and Thai forest traditions of meditation in 1988, he went on to engage in retreats and monastic stays in Australia, England and Northern Thailand.

This interest in the contemplative mindfulness practices led Morrison to complete a B.A in Religion and Philosophy at ECU completing the honours program researching Buddhist Philosophy.

Morrison was also introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Iyengar yoga during this time. The daily practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga soon led to extended visits to Mysore India with the teachers of this tradition.

In the early 1990’s Morrison opened the ‘Scarborough Yoga Centre’ teaching all levels of students and teacher training programs until selling this business to work full time as a Psychologist in 2013. Morrison’s teaching is heavily influenced by his study and practice of meditation, psychology, and traditional yoga practices.

In recent years he caught the BJJ bug and enjoys training and competing to sharpen his skills on the mats. He’s currently a proud brown belt under Hab Heske and goes by “The Violent Yogi” – peaceful yet deadly!
