As with other courses you attend such as water safety, road safety and first aid, the knowledge and skills learnt at a Pro Defence Seminar may one day ensure the safety of your loved ones and yourself.

On Tuesday 27th March 2012, the West Australian wrote a 2 page Boxing article in its Mind and Body Section of the National Newspaper.  They interviewed M1FC Coach, Stephen Walton, regarding Boxing and the fitness benefits it can bring. Stephen discussed finding the right instructor, learning good technique and having fun with the training. A reporter, Maya Anderson,  for the West Australian also attended a class at M1FC Joondalup. Maya said “Theres a good vibe in the class and the other students are more than nice”. She also stated “The workout was really good fun despite being a killer…I’d do it again in a heartbeat”. Her verdict was “A killer full body toning and fat-burning workout for those serious about fitness. Boxing will get you sweating, strengthen muscles and leave you sore”.

M1FC Instructor, Steve Walton, was interviewed as the self defence expert live on the Nova 93.7fm Breakfast Show, Nathan Nat and Shaun.

Steve discussed the does and do not’s of self protection, giving advice on how to stay safe. He talked about how to become more aware of the environment around you so that you can avoid potentially dangerous situations.

He also discussed the need to learn the physical skills and techniques to be able to defend yourself.

Hayden took 1st place in under 13′s.

Quinn took first place in under 16′s and Liam Took 3rd Place.

Dave Gibbs took second place in the seniors and open weight.

Guy Dowling won 1st place in under 84kg and James Rowlinson won 3rd place.

Leon and Nash got second place.

Other M1FC competitors had tough matches and did not place but was great eperience for first competition.”

Superfight Australia Hits Perth In March!!

SFA 13: Spooner vs. Whittaker

The WA Italian Club in Northbridge will be the venue once again as Superfight Australia hosts it’s “lucky number 13? show on Friday 23rd March and fight fans are in for a treat with another supreme line up of renowned interstate and local fighters.

Fans wanted this match up and now its here, between current SFA welterweight champion Shaun Spooner and rapidly rising star Robert Whittaker. Both fighters are at an international level and hold notable victories over Australian top contenders.

Fighting out of Bunbury MMA Fight Centre, Spooner secured the promotions welterweight title last October in just under 2 minutes with a rear naked choke victory over the well experienced Sydneysider Jon Leven and is currently on an 8-fight win streak.

Some of his other impressive victories include a submission (armbar) over Gokhan Turkyilmaz 15 seconds into their bout at CFC 15, a third round knockout victory over former Australian Olympic wrestler Chris Brown at Superfight Australia 8 and a first round submission (rear naked choke) ofDave Vergers at Superfight Australia 10.

Young gun Whittaker who trains out of PMA Super Martial Arts Centre recently defeated Queenslander Ian Bone with a second round TKO at CFC 19 back in December. This victory came after suffering his first loss at Legend FC in October, prior to the loss Whittaker was undefeated with a 7-fight win streak with victories over Corey Nelson, Ben Alloway and Nate Thompson.

This fight will place the winner as the top welterweight in this country and when you look at the fight records of these men it doesn’t take long to realise that neither of them will want to leave their fight in the hands of the judges making it a very exciting matchup for the fans.

Also included on the card will be Dean Roberts, Joel Oliver, Jordan Cameron, Dave Vergers, Steve Kennedy, Shane Williams, Danny Petanovik and Kris Kemps to name but a few.
